Mother, Roots and Flowers

Roots and flowers

I was nourished by her

She helped me bloom

I was busy dancing and experiencing the world

She quietly watched

When I was abandoned

I came back to her

Once she did not complain

Once she did not ask

Once she did not make me feel selfish

Once she did not make me feel small

Or guilty for my explorations

My true nature

In her acceptance of me

I became hers

We became one

Can I love like the roots

Can I be myself like the flower
